The Vikings are a throwback team, with an intense focus on the run. And by “on the run” we mean mostly “on Adrian Peterson”, who earned his Rookie of the Year title by shredding opposing defenses. QB remains a question mark at this point, with a battle between John David Booty and Tavaris Jackson to determine who will be taking snaps in Minnesota this year. The Viking defense is insanely good, particularly up front. Kevin Williams, Pat Williams, and Jared Allen create a fortress of a d-line that is going to drive opposing offenses nuts. With defense supporting Peterson’s offense, the Vikings may surprise a lot of fans and contend for a Super Bowl appearance this year.
Some Minnesota Vikings history: The Vikings joined the NFL as an expansion team in 1961 and selected Fran Tarkenton in the NFL draft. The franchise got off to a slow start, producing only one winning record in its first seven seasons. In 1967 Minnesota traded Tarkenton to the New York Giants.
